     Q&A for RFP 2021-22 #02

  • GVWR no higher than 24,000lbs? 26,000 (non-cdl) isn’t acceptable? This will be a food delivery truck which will deliver hot and cold food that have been prepared at a   central location and delivered to another.  I do not anticipate that this truck will deliver major heavy loads per delivery.  We do not want to go over 26, 000 gvw.
  • Why is the model year set at 2019 or newer? Used medium duty trucks are almost nonexistent and going at astronomical pricing if available.  Please provide us with the         newest best value vehicle that you have or will be able to provide within a timely basis.
  • Freightliner M2016 model is called out. 12,000lb front axle/21,000 rear axle isn’t available in a 26,000gvw Freightliner chassis. Please provide us with a proposal for the         appropriate axles for a 26,000gvw.
  • 270” wheelbase is too long for a 24’ reefer. Pushes too much weight to the front with a reefer. Please propose an appropriate wheelbase.
  • Minimum horsepower?  Reefer trucks are very heavy. Someone may bid 200hp or 220hp. Even in imperial valley as flat as it is you don’t want low                                                 horsepower.  Please propose an appropriate engine size.
  • How many pallets would you be loading and weight per pallet? 24’ reefer body on a 24,000gvw or 26,000gvw chassis diminishes the payload greatly. As stated above,               we will be delivering hot/cold food in food storage containers to various sites.
  • Stainless steel mirrors are called out. Not many newer medium duty offering stainless steel.  Please propose what is available.
