Important Safety Reminder: Beware of Phishing Email Scams

Posted Date: 10/14/26 (12:45 PM)

Dear CUHSD Families and Students,

Central Union High School District has received reports of fraudulent emails that appear to come from district staff accounts. These messages may advertise vehicles or household items for sale and request a deposit. Others may include unexpected shared documents, suspicious links, or urgent requests for personal information.
Please remember: Even if an email displays a familiar staff member’s name or district email address, it may not be legitimate.

To protect yourself and your family:

  • Do not send money or pay a deposit in response to these messages.
  • Do not click unexpected links, open suspicious shared documents, or share passwords or verification codes.
  • Verify unusual requests by contacting the staff member or school office using a phone number you already know. Do not use contact information provided in the suspicious email.
  • Report suspicious emails to your school office. Please do not forward them to other students or families.
Already clicked a link or responded? Contact your school office promptly so the IT team can help. If you sent money, contact your bank or payment service immediately to report the scam and ask about possible recovery options.

Cybersecurity is a shared responsibility. Thank you for staying alert and helping us protect our CUHSD community.
