    After an extensive analysis of student data for every public school in California, Central Union and Southwest High Schools have been identified as clear leaders in getting students to grade level and beyond.  Both schools have recently been named Honor Roll schools for the 2016 California Honor Roll presented by Educational Results Partnership (ERP) and the Campaign for Business and Education Excellence (CBEE). The 2016 Honor Roll recognizes higher performing, higher poverty public elementary, middle, and high schools that that are distinguished for consistently demonstrating high levels of student academic achievement, improvement in achievement over time, and reduction in achievement gaps. For high schools, Honor Roll recognition includes high college readiness in students.

          The Central Union High School District has just been named as one of 130 school districts across the nation being recognized for creating opportunities for traditionally underrepresented students; expanding access to higher education by providing students with rigorous academic offerings and innovative college-preparation programs; and demonstrating significant and consistent growth in the number of traditionally underrepresented students and low-income students taking college-level courses, and applying to four or more colleges.

          There is no application to be on the Honor Roll; instead the College Board looks across multiple data sets to identify recipients. To be included in the Honor Roll, a district must have:

    1.      Increased the number of underrepresented students who took the SAT®;
    2.      Increased the number of underrepresented students who took an AP® course and exam;
    3.      Increased the number of underrepresented students who were on-track for college, as demonstrated by scoring 1550+ on the SAT;
    4.      Increased the number of underrepresented students who scored a 3+ on an AP Exam; and
    5.      Increased the number of underrepresented students who sent their SAT scores to at least four colleges.
